In the 1990's Juli Be I was a "DOMESTIC VIOLENCE UNIT COORDINATOR" for VICTIM SERVICES (now SAFE HORIZONS), as a civilian who worked within several NYPD Precincts, working together with Domestic Violence Police Officers.

JBI acted as a (homicide prevention) crisis intervention counselor, assisting victims of Domestic Violence who had filed police reports, called, or walked into the precincts looking for assistance. JBI's job included finding emergency shelters, and helping NYC women and children to begin the long process of transforming from VICTIM into SURVIVOR, through moral support, and finding them counseling and services.

JBI helped them to navigate within the "SYSTEM" (the Police, NYCHA Public Housing, the courts, and Children's Services) and to BREAK THE CYCLE OF VIOLENCE!
Hopefully, they all made it out alive!

Domestic violence is the establishment of power and control of one partner over another.
This domination can be established through fear, intimidation, isolation, and or threats.
Abuse can come in many forms, each case is different.

All too often there is physical violence in addition to the psychological, social, emotional, sexual, financial, or even medical abuse.

THE ***T H R E A T*** OF ***V I O L E N C E*** IS VERY REAL!
A Woman is BEATEN every 10 seconds in the U.S.!
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IS THE LEADING CAUSE OF INJURY TO WOMEN BETWEEN THE AGES OF 15 AND 44 -
MORE THAN CAR ACCIDENTS, RAPES AND MUGGINGS COMBINED!!!!!
WHY DOESN'T SHE JUST GET THE HELL OUTTA THERE?

WOMEN who LEAVE their BATTERERS are 75% MORE LIKELY to be KILLED by the ABUSER than those who STAY!

In one of six marriages the WIFE is being ABUSED!

Four American Women will LOSE THEIR LIVES TOMORROW at the hands of someone they love!
Enough! STOP THE VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN!
